SOME NOTES ON THE SITUATION IN NEW ORLEANS
4 September 2005

  • UPDATE - 7 September 2005: Report that US troops have mutinied against their officers in Iraq? Note: The veracity of this report is unknown but you would expect the military to keep it quiet. It concerns troops from the New Orleans area who want to return home to help. Even if it is not true, you could believe how they must feel - especially when they're fighting some damned war for Bush's lies that they probably don't believe in or understand. It's actually a wonder the US military hasn't overthrown Bush by now.

It is hard to ignore the hurricane disaster in New Orleans as it is dominating the news, and this proves that the mainstream Western media has an obsession with America and all things American. One TV news report even mentioned that 10 000 people could have been killed, which would make the disaster “comparable” to the Asian tsunami tragedy (where some 150 000 were killed and whole regions devastated – not merely flooded). Australia TV news and the Australian ABC’s news website, as well as CNN for example, made the New Orleans disaster their lead story for a week. Some further observations:

  • A disaster in New Orleans was forecast in September 2004 but of course nothing was done as is plainly evident: “50 000 people could drown” and 10 000 body bags are stored just in case. UPDATE: Huh? CNN reports that US Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, claims: "govt planners did not predict such a disaster ever could occur". FURTHER UPDATE: The above report from September 2004 and this report warning of the hurricane risk to New Orleans proves that Chertoff is lying. It is reminiscent of the government's claims there were no warnings of September 11.
  • George Bush says that recovery and relief efforts are “making good progress” (sound familiar re: Iraq?) and is reported on the same day as saying he is “satisfied” with the federal government’s response to the Katrina disaster, although there is not “enough security in New Orleans, yet.” Meanwhile, back in the real world, the rest of the country slams government efforts.
  • It is typical Bush should have security on his mind considering the Police State he has created, not just in America but around the world. That’s why Martial Law is declared and troops are ordered to “shoot to kill”. It is a convenient trial run for the New World Order totalitarian Police State.
  • What about what the Louisiana Governor said in relation to National Guard troops from Iraq being deployed with “shoot to kill” orders: “These troops know how to shoot and kill and they are more than willing to do so…” (see previous link). Well of course they know how to kill! The American Wehrmacht is fresh from devastating Iraq, murdering many innocent people and unleashing a war that has killed over 100 000 people and up to 128 000 people.
  • Michael Moore asks Bush sarcastically: I wonder where all the military helicopters and National Guardsman are? (They’re in Iraq and Afghanistan of course).
  • Is anyone out there saying that the hurricane is “God’s revenge on America” for all the evil it does around the world? After all, that is what plenty of wackos in America were saying about the Asian tsunami – that it was God’s revenge on Muslims.
  • It doesn’t take much to see the great American society break down into looting and apparent “urban warfare” and crime, including shootings and rapes etc. It is sweet irony when you think of the looting and breakdown in civil order the American invasion of Iraq unleashed in Baghdad in April 2003. Remember the war criminal Donald Rumsfeld making light of the agony in Baghdad at the time? Hey Rummy! Why don’t you make light of New Orleans now? This is “freedom” and freedom after all can be “untidy” and well, “stuff happens”!
  • Where are all the white people in the TV images of those affected in New Orleans? There seems to be thousands of black people living in the “Third World conditions”, but not many white people. This has led many people in America to ask whether racism is a factor in the disproportionate impact on blacks.
  • The racism was certainly evident in some sections of the media. One media outlet showed a black man wading through water with gear he had “looted” from a shop, whereas two white people in similar circumstances had merely “found” food and water in a shop.
  • But what about the incredible Fox News? Its over-the-top tabloid reporters, Geraldo Rivera and Shepard Smith were practically running around doing there best to incite violence and start a riot with sensationalistic reporting. Flashback: Geraldo Rivera was expelled from Iraq by the US military for breaking regulations. Perhaps he should be kicked out of New Orleans as well.
  • As a final point, it is interesting that the Internet is full of stories suggesting the hurricane in New Orleans was an engineered event. Talk of the HAARP project and weather manipulation, and even hurricane manipulation, has been around for decades. The US military was said to have spent years trying to alter weather patterns over North Vietnam in the 1960s. Above average torrential rains and flooding in North Vietnam in the late 1960s and early 1970s were said to be the result.
